Biped Walking Robot
RANGER MAX, formerly “Tik-Tok”, will be the world’s most energy-efficient bipedal robot to have human-like agility! Energy efficiency is at the core of RANGER MAX’s design, which is driven by highly-efficient brushless DC motors and 3-stage chain drives. When complete, RANGER MAX should be able to complete a marathon on a single charge and also do a backflip!
chopsticks
Chopsticks is a high-speed robot for unloading 18-wheeler trucks! Chopsticks is being developed by Dextrous Robotics with the help of Dynamic Locomotion.
Sailvane autonomous sailboat
SailVane is the world’s first small (≈2 meters long), affordable (<$5,000 apiece) autonomous sailboat. SailVane can be used as a research vessel to for research, industrial applications, and environmental monitoring. SailVane is drastically less expensive than any existing autonomous sailboats - we hope to do for oceanic drones what small quadcopters have done for aerial drones!
I coordinated and helped author a NSF STTR proposal for this project, a later version of which won funding for this project.
